Germanglish Podcast

Yet again my best efforts to get a podcast recorded were thwarted this past weekend by forces far beyond our my.  Nik claims that he was forced to study for upcoming exams, though it seems he spent much of that time talking to his girlfriend or myself online.  Sure, he’ll claim that he was multi-tasking or whatever, but it seemed clear to me that he was goofing off.

Our NEW updated ETA on release of the premier episode, number 00000001, is Friday, 1/22/10.  That’s THIS Friday, so hang tight.  In the meantime, here is a sneak peek at some of the topics we’ll be covering this week:

GOLDEN GLOBES

That’s about what the show will look/sound like Friday when you listen to it.  Well, not really.  We’ll actually be talking about more interesting things, so check back here (not really HERE, but here) later in the week.

Situation Normal All Fouled Up Then Normal Again

Episode 1 didn’t come off, not yet.  This time it was my fault for not ensuring that the software I planned to use to record was unlimited.  Turned out that it would only record in .mp3, not a format you want to edit and then re-encode.

The good news is that I’ll be using Pamela for Skype.  Though I had lost my activation code (several reformats and OS’s ago), their support team was kind enough to look it up and email it to me.

At this point, I think there’s about a 98% chance of us getting an episode recorded next Sunday.  I’ll have it posted Monday at the latest, promise.

Nik’s headset has been ordered.  He should (depending on the German postal system) receive it sometime next week.  I certainly don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up, but if all things go according to plan, we COULD have our premier episode of the Germanglish Podcast posted for consumption as early as January 10th.

It won’t be long now, maybe a couple more weeks.  We are putting the finishing touches on some very serious podcast preparation.  Discussion of excitingly awesome topics are just around the calendar/corner.

No more hype.  Actually, Nik recently had some hardware malfunctions that were totally unforeseen and beyond his control.  Who knew that sleeping in your USB headset would cause it to crumble into a million bits of rubbish overnight?

As soon as we get our hardware issues and recording schedule squared away, Nik and I will record some Germanglish conversations that won’t make your ears bleed.  That’s a personal promise from my fingers to your eyeballs.
