It seems that Nik’s illness has spread to his PC. The poor thing runs a fever whenever it’s asked to run more than 2 applications. Nik plans on taking it to a computer doctor (for which there would be a long really cool German word if they hadn’t just stolen the English words) to have it checked out. My money is on it being over-clocked without the right sort of cooling on the CPU, but what do I know?
In the meantime, Germanglish will be taking a little break. Here are some podcasts that I like. Check them out while you wait:
Critical Strike
Skeptics’ Guide To The Universe
F&@$ You, We’re Podcasting!
PSNerds
Also, I’m looking for a new template for the blog. This one is making me feel a little claustrophobic. Don’t worry. The new theme will be just as bland and boring as the current theme.
Nik seems to be completely recovered from his mystery disease, and on Thursday afternoon we recorded Episode 003. In this episode we discuss social networks, the term “friend” as it is used to describe our social network contacts. We also discuss a few things people do without consciously being aware of what they are doing. We give our media recommendations and the Quote of the Episode.
The new-ish intro/outro music is called “Gravity in Terms of Space-Time” by Starscream.
Show Notes, Corrections, & Clarifications:
Nik did not really seek alternative healing from the Chinese.
40 cm is 15.75 inches, which really is a lot of snow though not close to the height of Nik’s kneecaps.
Germans are not actually dwarfs, except the ones that really are.
Nik really is a Level 7 Pokemon Monster Scout.
Playing Pokemon does not actually grow hair.
Despite what Nik says, none of his Facebook “friends” “snook on there.”
Nik does not play Farmville. His girlfriend takes care of it for him.
Everyone should Google themselves at least once a month.
Keith would break down his Facebook friend list into “Friends,” “Acquaintances,” and “Frenemies.”
Keith apologizes to any mentally handicapped people he may have offended by calling Twitter’s terms “retarded.”
Nik and Keith are aware that Xbox Live is not a social network.
Nik was stating a hypothetical when referring to Keith spreading his hate around. Keith keeps his hate to himself.
Nik described the domino affect of a habitual spiller of liquids (which he is).
Keith actually gets up in the afternoon, not the morning.
Nik refers to Sigmund Freud with regards to Keith’s motivation for questioning why humans do what we do.
Nik prefers the Germussian pronunciation of Tetris.
You can play Tetris on the web for free HERE.
Nik knows that Al Bundy is not really on the show Modern Family, but Ed O’Neil is.
The Quote of the Week may be renamed to “Quote of the Episode.”
Nik mentioned that he nods faster than his shadow and was referring to Lucky Luke.
Nik shares an interesting (and enlightening) “Tweeter” anecdote in an attempt to derail the ending of the show.

Nik and I have decided that since he’s not actually dying (and beginning to feel better) that we should probably record another episode. On Wednesday, we’ll do that. We have topics lined up, so no need for our listener(s)to submit ideas for this one (not that you would anywayz!).
Since Nik has been staying home sick, he should have lots and lots of good media recommendations that I won’t let him share (the rule is 1 per episode), but I will let him cough on you. I think he’s been practicing his English talking abilities by looking American movies. Through the magic of editing, I’ll remove all evidence of Nik’s illness, sanitizing the podcast for your protection.
UPDATE: On Monday afternoon, I re-confirmt with Nik that we are on for recording Wednesday. A new episode should be available for listening on or before Friday evening.
Nik has been sick (probably faking!), so we won’t be recording Episode 003 until he’s feeling better. No one (not even his girlfriend) wants to get infected from his breathing all over them. If he really is sick, it’s probably not serious; probably just mono or the plague.
In the meantime, why not check out one of the other excellent podcasts we link to on the right side of the page?
In an effort to seem more professional-ish, we’ve decided to splice together some pre and post episode content into a fatty, gristly sausage full of bonus content. In addition to this, we are constantly striving for a higher quality level in our recordings (sound quality, not content quality). As we pursue this goal, please don’t hold the low quality of our bonus content and counter-anti-unprofessionalism against us. This stuff was never intended for public consumption.
What I’m trying to say in the above paragraph is that although I used to be a goddamn mad evil editing genius, I’m rusty. So in the unlikely event that you feel urge to give us an iTunes review or rating our podcast, please do so on the quality of our main episodes, and please don’t ding us for our inane outtakes/bonus content.
